Beautiful, hardy, native perennial with dense spikes of purple flowers from June onwards. Very attractive to bees and butterflies as a nectar source. Plant in full sun. Height: 45cm (18") .
Sow seeds onto a good, damp seed compost. Cover finely with compost or vermiculite. Place in a coldframe or unheated greenhouse. In the spring transplant the seedlings that
have germinated to 7cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10 to 15 days before planting out, 24cm (8in) apart.
