Annual poppy with large, lilac-lavender flowers with maroon-purple blotches in the centre, produced in profusion throughout summer. Grown primarily for it's huge decorative seed-pods which are much sought
after by flower arrangers. This is one of the most sought after strains of poppy. An excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other pollinating insects. Will self-seed.
Height: 1.2m (3-4').
Sow outdoors from spring to early summer or in the autumn for flowering the next season. Prepare the ground well by raking to a fine tilth and sow 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
Thin out the young plants to 30cm (12in) apart when the seedlings are large enough to handle. They prefer a sunny site in ordinary well drained soil but will flourish in most sites and soils.
